Sacred Dying: Creating Rituals for Embracing the End of Life
Published in Hardcover by Prima Publishing (05 April, 2001)
Author: Megory Anderson
Average review score:

Moving and uplifting, with practical advice
Sacred Dying offers that hard to find balance: compassionate advice on a very emotional topic written in a clear, clean and easy to understand style. The stories of patients and families are very moving and uplifting. There are lots of practical guidelines for those of all faiths to make the end of life experience what it should be - beautiful!

Intense and personal
In Western societies today, the amazing feats of technology have led to a view of death as a medical failure, rather than an absolute spiritual transition. Ms. Anderson helps us to see how we can make this transition into the unknown in a spiritualized and sacred way, no matter what our belief system may be.

Ms. Anderson has done amazing work in her life and in this book. Her passionate style and use of personal anecdotes, creates a wonderful synthesis of exposition and storytelling.

Moved To Tears
Having just experienced the death of my grandmother, I was happy to find a book that helped to explain what I had gone through, as well as shared stories which I found comforting. Anderson writes with amazing wisdom and poise. I reccommend this book to anyone who believes in the sanctity of death.

Women in Career & Life Transitions
Published in Paperback by Jist Works (January, 2000)
Author: Sandy Anderson
Average review score:

This book is phenomenal!
The author combines research, resources and information with real life stories to make a comprehensive guide to transition. It's written in a very reader-friendly tone. I've worked with people in transition for several years and have not seen a work that was so all-encompassing. Perfect for women in transition because it addresses all the issues we balance in the process of our daily lives. Highly recommend this book to any growth-oriented woman.

Real-Life Case Studies will Inspire You to Start Moving!
The most inspiring part of this book is its wonderful real-life case studies of other women in transition. These studies really augment the how-to steps that Sandy Anderson offers in the text. My favorite: 36-year old University Lecturer and Researcher. She declared bankruptcy to pursue her life's work to teach in a university setting part-time. Unbelievable and ever-so inspiring.

--Kimberly Stansell, author Bootstrapper's Success Secrets: 151 Tactics for Building Your Business on a Shoestring Budget (Career Press)

Most any woman at any stage of her life can find something valuable in this book. Buy this book
I bought this book when a close friend was diagnosed with cancer. I was looking for ways to be a better friend and support system for her. Later, when my uncle was diagnosed with colon cancer, I purchased a copy of the book for him. He feels it changed his life and also attributes part of his recovery to the book. Years later, he still thanks me for buying him this book and he also has bought several copies for others.

Cleanse and Purify Thyself, Book 1.5
Published in Paperback by Triumph Business (01 August, 1998)
Author: Richard Anderson
Average review score:

The most enlightening book I've ever read
No doubt, that is the most enlightening book on health, nutrition and spiritual guidance I've ever read. A must read!

The best insight to cleansing and health truths going.
The best cleanse program going. Don't look for a fad diet or miracle cures here, just possibly the best advise available concerning your health. Although flawed when making spiritual declarations (be prepare to "rightly divide"), it is well worth reading for anyone who is serious about taking charge of their own health destiny. Highly recommended!

SUPERB
MOST CRITICALLY IMPORTANT BOOK THAT I HAVE EVER READ CONCERNING HEALTH AND QUALITY OF LIVING. AN ABSOLUTE MUST-READ BY ANYONE WHO CARES AT ALL ABOUT HOW THEY FEEL AND HOW THEY HOPE TO EXPERIENCE ABUNDANT LIVING. SHOCKING EXPOSE OF THE TRUTH ABOUT TODAY'S MEDICAL INDUSTRY. THIS BOOK HAS THE ANSWERS AND SOLUTIONS. AFTER FOLLOWING THE BOOKS'S SUGGESTINGS AND GOING THROUGH A CLEANSE, THE READER WILL BE ABSOLUTELY ECSTATIC WITH THE RESULTS. THE READER WILL DESIRE TO SHARE THE RESULTS WITH OTHERS. DON'T MISS READING THIS BOOK!

Coming Prince
Published in Paperback by Kregel Publications (December, 1975)
Author: Robert Anderson
Average review score:

Precision and focus
Anderson was an investigator and he tackles the prophecy of Daniel and the accumulation of evidence like a pro. When he wanted to know exactly when the moon would rise in a given year he wrote to the Astronomer Royal (who responded).
He writes in a somewhat flowery and formal style and there is very little devotional content. Although I'm sure he was a devout believer he is not setting out (in this case) to 'lift Christ up'. He was living in a time when higher and lower criticism were attacking the book of Daniel and he sets out to put forward a 'case' for the simple truth of scripture.
In his beliefs he appears similar to Arno C Gaebelien (who has done an excellent book on Daniel too).
Anderson settles for a 'traditional' pre-millenialist view of Daniel.
I don't think I would recommend this as a first commentary on Daniel or possibly even as a second. But for someone who has already gotten embroyled in all the controversy surrounding the book then this is an extremely scholarly work that HAS to be read, if only because you want to dis-agree with it!

A deep and clear biblical study
I was amazed with the deep biblical knowledge I found in this book. As a commom man who likes to study I was enriched with the prophetic study and many other information about people, kings and dates mentioned in the Bible. I do recommend its reading to everyone who believes the Bible is the true word of God and wants to know more about prophecy.

No wonder he busted Jack the Ripper!
Sir Robert Anderson, inspector of Scotland Yard, and careful Bible student not only busted The Ripper, but went on to investigate with painstaking care the Great Prophecy of Daniel's 70 hebdomads. With the care and precision of his Scotland Yard background, Anderson reviews the 69 weeks of the Great Prophecy, dots the yods and crosses the tittles (are there such things in Chaldee?) and brings us to a precision rendezvous with the planned (2nd) triumphal entry of the Lord Jesus Christ in the Gospel of Mark as the fulfilment of the 69 weeks.

The great care he takes demonstrates that he was no clergyman, but a real Bible student.

Ignore the man behind the curtain, D. Pentecost could never have done this work. This fellow may be second only to EW Bullinger as a recent and real Bible student.

Who's Hiring Who
Published in Paperback by Ten Speed Press (October, 1989)
Authors: Richard Lathrop and Beverly Anderson
Average review score:

Not sure if this book is still useful in 2000.
I used to think that this was the best resume book on the market. It helps you to understand that a resume should be something carefully crafted and designed with a goal in mind. I'm just not sure how useful it is in 2000. Today your resume is entered into a database and a search is done on key words to find you. This book needs to be updated. The last update was in 1989. A lot has changed in the hiring industry since then. Why has this book not been updated?

Good material for building a job search campaign
This is an excellent book. Together with other books, this is what is needed in a job search. The author has done a great job in pulling together the elements which spell success in the quest for employment. I recommend it.

Wayne D. Ford, Ph.D., author of "The Accelerated Job Search" docwifford@msn.com

Do you have the guts to change?
When I was out of work, and wanting to make a career change, I went to the library and, literally, checked out a three foot stack of resume and cover letter books.

I sat them next to my couch, got a glass of iced tea and went to work perusing the pages. Right away it was evident that, for the most part, the only thing different about these how to tomes was their cover. Inside was the same tired advice and the same over used examples of resumes and cover letters.

Guess what? As an employee candidate your job is to stand out from the crowd, not blend in with it.

I had just about given up on my reading (and was getting more depressed by the minute) when I came across "Who's Hiring Who?" I could tell right away that it was different, the question was, would I have the guts to run free, as the book encouraged, or would I continue to run with the herd?

When I read "Who's Hiring Who" I was three months into a job search. After this much time spent looking for work (and I was at it 12 hours a day!) I told myself that my resume, which took form based upon a lot of the ancient advice in the mainstream resume books, wasn't working and I wasn't going to lose anything by trying the advice in "Who's Hiring Who?"

It took me a week to read the book, really think about the suggestions it made, and then distill it's principles into my new QUALIFICAITONS BRIEF. No more resumes! Other no mores? No more worrying about a spotty work history. No more worrying about an incomplete (that means little or no college) education. The book tells you the best ways to accentuate the positive and marginalize the negative.

Within two weeks I had several job offers on the table. Within a month I had done more than get a job, I had successfully changed careers and was working for a hot software company with benefits out the wazoo and a pay rate higher than I'd hoped for!

(Since then I've read Tom Peter's book, "Circle of Innovation" (I think that was the book), which, when talking about resumes says who cares about education, companies want to know what you've done. What have your successes been? This is one thing "Who's Hiring Who?" focuses on.)

My advice to you? Buy the book, follow its advice and have the guts to change!

Arctic Bush Pilot
Published in Paperback by Graphic Arts Center Publishing Co. (26 May, 2000)
Authors: James Anderson, Jim Rearden, James Andereson, and James "Andy" Anderson as told to Jim Reardon
Average review score:

I wanna go there.
I have read it, and has some neat stories about flying in the bush. Which is where my wife and I plan to make it some day.
Good reading!

Appreciative student
I had the pleasure of attaining a lifetime dream of learning to fly an airplane. I didn't immediately appreciate my good fortune to be led step-by-step through the process by my instructor, Jim Anderson. As I played the unintentional role of test pilot, stretching the limits of the plane, my instructor kept a very cool head, showed tremendous patience and provided life saving tips to enable me to become a pretty good private pilot. I always wondered how Jim could maintain such a relaxed presence with every new danger I provided. I had heard bits and pieces of his flying past - from naval aviator during WWII to pioneer in the Arctic. I have thouroughly enjoyed filling in the blanks by reading this book. Jim is every bit the hero that the book portrays. And more than that, he has the highest level of honesty and integrity (tested in aviation and elsewhere) of any person I have encountered. I recommend this book without reservation.

Great book on the Alaskan Bush
Having been a pilot in Alaska for 25 years and having been lucky enough to be taught to fly by James "Andy" Anderson it was hard for me to put this book down until I was through. Once you realize how unassuming Andy is you really appreciate the experiences he has been fortunate enough to have had in a very unique place and time. His unbelievable skill has been finely tuned by many years of daily flying only a few can appreciate. I highly reccommend it to pilots and non-pilots alike. He is truly a ledgend on the Koyukuk River and Brooks Range area of Alaska.

The Art of Kim Anderson

Kim Anderson's Photography
After viewing this book, I was touched greatly at the preciousness of children. They are an amazing gift and expressed wonderfully in this book. I highly recommend it and think the photography is phenominal.

Fun, Sweet and Varied!!
I love to give some of these pics away as gifts, because they capture so many different situations, and I can usually find a photograph that suits a friend at a specific point in time. Love it!! Great gift!!!

Unclouded Eyes, Minds, and Hearts of Young Children
These photographs will bring you joy beyond what five stars can express.

Bertram Bahner, who is Kim Anderson, has created an amazing collection here that will inspire you to see the world afresh, and take heart.

You are familiar with his work, because it is everywhere, but the combined effect of seeing 240 of his best will overwhelmingly free your heart.

The classic Kim Anderson shot has children around age 3-4 wearing adult clothes (sort of like dress-up) in an adult pose, with simple props (like a single rose), in a black and white image with muted hand-painted color to highlight key elements of the composition, especially the symbolic ones.

But the best parts of these shots are the expressions of pure joy on the faces and in the eyes of the children. They're having a ball, doing something that should be great pleasure for adults as well. By looking at the images, you can touch (and remain in touch with) a purer part of your heart and soul.

The book is divided into different sections built around a theme. These are first love, thoughts, friendship, let's pretend, little girls, and little boys. Each section is introduced by an essay describing the author's own child or children and impressions of this aspect of childhood. The little boys and little girls essays contain lovely fold-out photographs in their midst.

Here are my most favorite images in the book: Gentleman caller; Sweet surprise; All smiles . . . ; Trespass not on their solitude; Just imagine; Youth dwells in possibility; Once upon a time; Happily ever after; Special delivery; Summer idyll; Elfin damsels; Sitting pretty; and Free spirit. In selecting these photographs, let me observe that these are of extremely high quality -- a level I would call "sublime." If I had chosen the "outstanding" photographs instead, the list would have been much longer. Few of the images in the book are less than interesting and less than meaningfully memorable.

What is most remarkable is the way that Mr. Bahner captures the spirit of his tiny models to match the physical moment portrayed. "The emotion is perfect."

He began by photographing his 3 year old daughter, Nicole, playing with her friends. Later he added his son. Eventually, other children joined the process. I am positively in awe of his ability to work with the children to create such effortlessly appealing and fascinating images from their play. The concept of adding handpainting to create greater imagery is also brilliant.

Regardless of your taste in photography, you will find this collection to be very rewarding. I recommend this book to everyone who likes portrait photography.

After you finish enjoying these images, focus on what goes through your mind when you find yourself in these situations that steals the joy away from you. Then imagine having a giant mental eraser and eliminating those thoughts, so you can be more in touch with your inner self -- your original perceptions of the wonder and joy of the the world.

Live in pure joy, using these images as your guide!

Client/Server Database Design with SYBASE: A High-Performance and Fine- Tuning Guide (McGraw-Hill Computer Communications Series)

Recommended with Reservation
A good book for high level description of the structure of Sybase System 11. When concerning details, there are many places the explanations are confusing. Pretty often two or more contradiction view of points appear in the same page. Considering the lack of good Sybase books, I would like to give this one a favorable recommendation, but don't expect too much.

Excellent Reference & practical Book
I've got more than 30% improvement in my Server , After reading & use the concept which is describe in this book

A very practical approach to learn how sybase actually works
This books gives an insight into sybase internals and how to get the best out of your server. The material on locking included in this book is one of the best I have seen so far.
